AS Ridango won the public procurement for a delivery of a Ticketing and Passenger Information Systems for the public transportation network of Pärnu City and County and signed a contract with MTÜ Pärnumaa Ühistranspordikeskus. The new ticketing system will be launched on July 1, 2017 and the operating period in contract is five years. In addition to the delivery and maintenance of the ticketing system, Ridango will also install information displays in many bus stops in the city and county of Pärnu in the second half of 2017, providing the passengers with real-time information about the arrival and departure times of buses.
“It is a great news, that important developments, taking place in Pärnu in the near future, shall make it easier for the locals to get around. The new ticketing system will be used in the city as well as the county. The real-time information system will make waiting for a bus especially comfortable for people with smartphones,” said Taimo Tammeleht, Development Manager of Pärnumaa Ühistranspordikeskus (the Public Transport Authority of Pärnu City and County).
“Pärnu region is without a doubt one of the most important areas in Estonia. We are glad that, starting from next year, people living in Pärnu region will be able to enjoy the comforts of a modern ticketing system, which is already available for the citizens of Tallinn, Harju County and Tartu. We have already agreed with Pärnumaa Ühistranspordikeskus about the interoperability of Pärnu’s transit cards with other regions of Estonia and vice versa,” added Argo Verk, Sales Director of Ridango.
Today, the Public Transport Card also permits using the public transport in other Estonian locations besides Tallinn, like Tartu, Narva and Kohtla-Järve, but also in a number of counties and inter-city traffic. The Public Transport Cards function regardless of the place of purchase or the card’s design following the principle of cross-usage, permitting the use of the same card when travelling in many areas all over Estonia.
