Ridango has a new chairman of the management board and a new council

A renowned Estonian public transport technology company Ridango has hired ambitious top managers to turn the company into a major international player.

AS Ridango, operating in six countries in addition to Estonia has focused on the development of ticket, real-time, and payment systems for public transport. Three new members with many years of experience in international business were elected to the council of Ridango: BaltCap partner Kristjan Kalda will become the chairman of the council – previously he was the chairman of the council of Magnetic MRO, named the company of the year, and a successful technology company Fitek; while a managing partner of BaltCap Peeter Saks and a partner of NordicNinja venture fund Rainer Sternfeld will become the new council members.

Starting next year Erki Lipre will become the chairman of the management board of Ridango, replacing the current head of the company, Mart Nielsen.

Previously, Lipre already served as a chairman of the management board of Ridango and was the Head of Information Technology at ABB Baltics. In 2015, Forbes Eesti ranked Lipre among the 30 most influential young entrepreneurs, and in 2016 he became one of the European finalists of the Ernst & Young “Accelerating Entrepreneurs” competition.

The new chairman of the council of Ridango, Kristjan Kalda, thanked the current head of the company, Mart Nielsen, for the work and welcomed Erki Lipre’s decision to return to the company as its head and one of the owners. “Erki has already established himself as a strong young leader, having led Ridango in the first phase of the company’s development. Next year will mark the beginning of a new era in Ridango development and Erki is the person who as a leader will help turn the company into a leading international enterprise,” said Kalda.

According to Erki Lipre, so far Ridango has been managed well, and he believes the leap forward will come with new investors. “Ridango has tremendous potential in terms of personnel and technology. The new owner BaltCap has also demonstrated itself to be a smart investor in the past, and our visions for the future of Ridango coincide. We want to be the leading international technology group focused on the public transportation sector,” added Lipre.

Established in 2009, AS Ridango currently employs 85 people and has a turnover of ca. 10 million euros. In winter 2020, BaltCap Private Equity Fund III acquired a controlling stake in Ridango. Ridango specializes in the development of ticket, real-time, and payment systems for public transport. Apart from Estonia, Ridango provides services in six other European countries. Its main clients are local governments, their divisions, as well as private carriers in the field of public transportation. In Estonia, the company’s clients include Elron, Tallinn Transportation Department, the city of Tartu, Pärnu Public Transport Centre, and others.

Ridango is the winner of various international awards and is recognized in Northern Europe in the field of public transport information technology.
