Ridango is the first in Nordics to bring contactless bank card payments into public transport
This week, Ridango launched contactless bank card payments in public transport in Skåne, Sweden. It is also the first such implementation in the Nordic countries.
Using public transport in Sweden’s Skåne region becomes more convenient as travelers can purchase an hourly ticket with a contactless bank card directly from a validator. The bank card payment option has opened this week in Trelleborg and Hässleholm and the roll-out will continue throughout Skåne, including the largest city of the region – Malmö, early next year.
The service was developed by Ridango in close cooperation with Skånetrafiken, a part of Region Skåne. “Contactless bank card is the most universal payment medium worldwide. It makes access to a public transport network simple and convenient for all passengers, not only for frequent users. Ridango is a frontrunner in delivering such solutions and it’s been a pleasure working together with Skanetrafiken in bringing Pay-As-You-Go approach also to Nordic markets,” says Argo Verk, Head of Sales at Ridango.
Mariell Hallenhed, Product Owner at Skånetrafiken, adds: „We have been developing our program in Skåne with the ambition to create world class public transport where simplicity is a keyword. This solution is a step in the right direction, and it is a pleasure to offer our customers such a convenient way of travel. To buy a ticket should never be an obstacle for using public transport!”.
In autumn 2018, Ridango launched contactless bank card payments in public transport of Tallinn, Estonia and starting from this summer the travelers in Tartu can enjoy the same convenience.
